Q: How much is Allegra going to cost me?
I just went to the doctor for allergy problems and he wrote me a prescription for Allegra. Problem is, my insurance doesn't cover prescriptions. How much does a 30-pill supply cost without insurance?

A: you really need to shop around, check walmart, supermarkets and drugstores because the prices can be very different. I even buy some of my meds online when my insurance company tells me they wont cover them. here is the link to Allegra at the online site I use for some of my meds as yet another alternative place to shop http://low-cost-rx.com/?product=allegra

Q: What´s the difference between Allegra D Pills and the normal Allegra?
I have to buy the Allegra D, but i don´t know if it heals the skin rach by food poisoning too.

A: Allegra D contains a decongestant in addition to the antihistamine. The decongestant wouldn't make a difference in a rash, only in your nose/sinuses. It is the antihistamine that should be helping your rash and that is the same dose in both the regular Allegra and the Allegra D.

Q: How long does it take for Allegra to take effect?
I started taking allegra today and I wanted to know how long it takes for it to start working?

A: Hi. I think Loulu2u said it well. Here is some more information: . Fexofenadine (Allegra) is in a class of medications called antihistamines. It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergy symptoms. Whats great about it is that it is NON SEDATING - Claritin can make you drowsy at higher doses and Zyrtec's regular dosing can have sedating effects. There are several versions of Allergra including those with Pseudophedrine (Allegra D), orally disintegrating tablets, and various dosaging (180mg, 120mg, & 60mg) options. I have such severe allergies (year round - but Trees/Grasses/Molds are my worst) that I take the 180 mg dose twice a day. I have had no adverse side effects. At times, I take a decongestant (pseudophedrine) along with the fexofenadine to help with the extra stuffies of the bad reactions. I did some research to help figure the answer to your question. I found your answer and a bit more. Maybe the info here is too much - but atleast I learned a bit. Drugs dot com says that fexofenadine (the generic version of Allegra) is rapidly absorbed in a mean average of 2.6 hours. So, if you have been taking Allegra for a few days now, you should have a good level built up in your blood stream. If you are not finding relief, you should contact your doctor. The dosaging may not be enough, you might be taking a conflicting medication which limits the abilites of Allegra to work, you might need additional help to get over the rought times. Here are a few suggestions about taking Allegra/Fexofenadine: * Take with water, not juice (see study below) * Take around the same time every day. * If you take an antacid, take the antacid several hours before or after you take the Allegra. * Do not eat with a high fat meal, it reduces plasma levels by 20% (drugs.com) PS - I just found this out - that if you are thinking about becoming pregnant, you might want to check with your doctor. Allegra is a Class C drug - which means it might cause harm to the baby or be passed along in breast milk. hmmm...yet its safe enough for a 2 year old with hives.

Q: What side effects have you had from allegra?
I have recently started to take allegra and it seems to be effecting my mood. I was wondering if anyone else has seen a similar issue.

A: try http://www.ehealthme.com to search allegra side effects other people had. you can enter your own side effects to compare with others'. at this moment, there are 6,000 side effects and drug interactions reported related to allegra.

Q: Can Zyrtec, Allegra or Nasonex cause high blood pressure?
I have been having some pretty serious allergies this summer and fall, that have led to ear infections and blockages. My blood pressure has always been normal, but the last few weeks it is very high, 160/110 to 150/91 range. The only big change in me is that I have been taking Zyrtec and Nasonex, and that was changed last week when they noticed the bp problem to Allegra and Nasonex. I just don't feel right. Have a followup with the doc this Friday, and we will do a more thourough workup to see what is going on. I stopped taking the drugs because of the BP thing just today, and the pressure in my ear is painful again. Anybody had a connection between these types of meds and high blood pressure resulting from their use?

A: I sincerely hope that someone answers this question as well. I have been using Nasonex for about two weeks, and I noticed that my blood pressure was elevated within the same measurements. I'm afraid to continue using it.

Q: Safe to use claritin and allegra in same day?
I took a 24-hour Claritin this morning and it did not help my symptoms. I have a sinus infection caused by allergies. The doctor recommended I start taking Allegra-D instead. Should I wait until tomorrow morning to take the Allegra-D or is alright? I feel miserable and really need something to clear me up.

A: Neither of those are heavy duty antihistamines. It would be ok to take the Allegra-D. I will tell you that the decongestant in Allegra-D may make it difficult to sleep if you take it tonight.

Q: Can you cut Allegra 180mg in half for a dose of 60mg?
I can't tolerate allegra 180mg, it makes me nauseous, gives me headaches, but the 60mg has been perfect for me. Can I cut the allergra 180mg I have in half or threes to take?

A: First of all, learn your math. Half of 180 is 90. You need to call a pharmacist to find out if it can be cut safely. Some medications can and some can't.

Q: Is it safe to take Benedryl and Allegra in the same day?
Obviously I have allergy issues. I have been taking allegra at 180 mg's but some days it just doesnt get it done. Eyes are watery and itchy beyond belief some days. I dont want to get shots unless I have too as they are costly.

A: Both are an antihistime, so both should not be used at the same time. Take your allegra every day, but perhaps see your doctor about some eye drops. I think there's a brand called ocuhist that is specific to allergy eyes. It really works. I cannot recall if that's a prescription medicine or not, but the pharmacist can let you know. There are really sweet prescription eye drops out there, and your eye doctor or regular doctor can write them up for you, no problem. Also, there are different allergy medicines out there. I do not know how long you've been on allegra, but you might have built up an immunity. You might want to try zrytec or alavert if you have more problems that just your eyes. Anyway, the eye drops should work for you. You may want to keep an eye on the weather channel and the pollen, ragweed, and grass factor. These things vary with the weather and they will let you know on days if there is a moderate or severe level for these. If it's a high number for pollen or ragweed, you may want to limit your outdoors time, if you are unable to get extra medicine. Good luck!

Q: Can i take my Allegra medicine the morning of my fasting lab?
I take Allegra every morning for chronic hives, if i don't take it when i wake up i will get hives within like 30 minutes... and i have a fasting test tomorrow. Do you know if i can take my medicine with water in the morning?

A: Depending on the particular tests you are having done it is probably ok, but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well as the lab you are getting the test done (if the test is being done outside of the clinic).

Q: what is the difference between allegra d and zyrtec d?
I am currently on allegra d and it isn't working! My prescription plan will only cover zyrtec d or allegra d. Just wondering what the difference is and if zyrtec d will work for me or if it is the same as allegra d?

A: allegra d = 60 mg foxfenadine (antihistamine) plus 120 mg pseudoephedrine (decongestant) zyrtec d = 5 mg cetirazine (antihistamine) plus 120 mg pseudoephedrine (decongestant) Some people get better results with a different antihistamine so it would be worth a trial. Try taking vitamin C 500 mg and pantothenic acid 500 mg daily for allergy relief. it helps some folks. Good luck.

Q: Is it OK to give my dog allegra for seasnal allergies?
my lab has seasonal allegies... reactin is not working and a good friend of mine suggested allegra... would it be OK to use on my dog? She's under 70 pounds like 68 so would a pediatric douce of 60 MG be OK?

A: Call the vet. I would NEVER give my dog medicine based on a friend's advise.. .MUCH LESS strangers on the internet. Your vet will most likely answer the question through the assistant on the phone and you won't have to pay for a visit.

Q: Are there any medications that are comparable to Allegra-D?
I've been having major side effects with the Allegra-D. Mainly with blood pressure, irregular heartbeat and having my heart feel like it's pounding out of my chest. I've taken the generic for Allegra (fexofenadine) but it doesn't seem too help for the congestion. It helps for the dripping but not the other.

A: Allegra-D It is the only anithistamine that I have found that prevents dizziness. I was using generic version - fexofenadine, i have been buying it through reputable canadian online pharmacy, it was much cheaper that way! http://www.pharmacynextdoor.com/buy_allegra-d_without_prescription.html

Q: heart palpitations from allegra or other meds?
I recently had chest pain on my left side and an increase in my heart beat. I went to the doctor yesterday and got an EKG done and he said it was just the allegra (that i was put on for fluid in my ear) speeding up my heart. Has anyone else had this experience with allegra or any other medications? I'm off the allegra now but how long does it take for side effects like this to go away?

A: Yes, from Allegra-D or anything with a Sudafed type decongestant. They also made me manic so I avoid all decongestants now... it makes the allergy season tougher but it's worth it to avoid those nasty side effects. I felt "normal" again after a couple weeks. Good luck!

Q: Can I consume Alcoholic Beverages while on Allegra?
I'm on twice a day Allegra for my seasonal allergies (sore throat/runny nose). Can I drink a few shots of whiskey? I know both will make me drowsy, but I want to know if there can be a dangerous interaction between the two.

A: I didn't saw interaction between alcohol and Allegra (Fexofenadina/Fexodane). Be careful antacid. Should be administered at intervals of at least 2 hours.
