Q: When gargling after inhaling symbicort, is it enough to gargle with water? What then?
Thankful for this site. Had it not been from advice learned here, I would not know to rinse out mouth after using symbicort inhalant.
A: If you already have thrush than do what the above answer says. If not water is just fine. swallow it. Drink soda, or hot chocolate or anything simply to wash away the particles. The particles that will go into your stomach are harmless.
Q: Does anyone else gag when they rinse their mouth after taking a dose of Symbicort?
The aftertaste is putrid but I take Symbicort because Advair Diskus would give me sore throats after a few days and Symbicort doesn't. I'm just wondering if it's just me or anyone else has the joy of experiencing this twice a day.
A: My daughter takes Symbicort, and she doesn't mind it. So that would be a no. =D
Good Luck!

Q: Does anyone know of possible side effects from using Symbicort?
I have had asthma since I was a child. My doctor suggested that I give Symbicort a try, since it is used to prevent asthma symptoms. I have been using it for about a week and I seem to be experiencing some odd side effects, kind of like the flu (or I actually have the flu).
Is anyone else using this medication, and if so, with or without side effects?
Thanks in advance for your responses!!
A: I don't use this medication and I do not have asthma, but here are some of the common side effects:
- headaches
- upper respiratory tract infection like the common cold
- throat pain
- stomach pain/ upset stomach
- sinus infection
- flu symptoms
- back pain
- nasal congestion
- nausea/vomiting
- thrush
- diarrhea
- voice change
- muscle spasms
- urinary tract infection
- dizziness
- headaches including migraines and tension headaches
Q: How long would it take to feel a symbicort overdose? would you know if it was happening?
Ok so I just woke up and realized I didn' t take my symbicort yet after taking a nap, so i took it. Now I am starting to second guess myself... maybe I did take it a few hours ago... I am pretty sure I didn't but if I were to overdose how long would it take to feel the symptoms?
A: well if you have any of these symptoms: # Shakiness (tremor)
# Runny nose
# Vomiting
# Increased salivation
# Chest pain
# High blood pressure (hypertension) or low blood pressure (hypotension)
# Heart palpitations (feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart)
# Rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
# Nervousness
# Muscle cramps
# Dry mouth
# Insomnia or fatigue
if you dont have any of these you should be fine, then again, it wouldn't be a huge deal if you od on a corticosteroid. you should be fine, just dont take anymore for the next 24 hours
Q: Whats the difference between symbicort= budesonide/formoterol and oxis formoterol?
I know that symbicort has formoterol in it as well as budesonide, but why us there also a formoterol oxis inhaler as welll, which ine would be more effective? and what does each of these drugs do differently
A: There is evidence that COPD rather than asthma patients may benefit from Oxis alone, getting little from the inhaled steroid. It also allows the flexibility of adding further doses and intermediate doses of Oxis, which can also be used as a reliever to the fixed Symbicort dose.
Q: im taking the symbicort for my athsma is it possible ill becom anumed to it?

Q: Why/How does advair and symbicort increase the risk of asthma related death?
Just wondering, I take a lot of advair for my asthma.
Again...How/Why
A: Advair contains a long acting bronchodilator. Although generally safe, overusing the drug past what is prescribed to you can be very bad.
Q: In the advertisement for Symbicort, they show a man wiping down a green pick up truck.?
The truck is an older truck. I say its about a 1951 or 53 Ford and its green, anyone seen this and know what year and make the truck is?
A: Not positive but think 55 or 56.
Q: I'm taking Symbicort, but I still start to wheeze every three-four hours?
Is it because I was just recently (within the last three days,) put on the medication?
Is it safe for me to use my other inhaler, (Proventil,) when I start to wheeze?
A: absolutely use your inhaler when you are wheezing. That's what it's for. The Symbicort helps prevent an attack and is not to be used during one. It will do nothing. If the proventil isn't helping after a few puffs then go to the ER. Let them give you nebulizer treatments. That should clear it up. If it is happening frequently, like every day call your doctor so he/she can change your medicine around to something that does work.
Please remember what I said about the Symbicort, do not take that when you are wheezing. Only use the proventil. Take the Symbicort as your doctor ordered it one or two times a day.
Q: Asthma: What are your thoughts on Symbicort inhaler?
I'd like to know what people think of symbicort inhaler, if you have been prescribed it before. Good or bad? And why?!
Thanks!
A: ive been using it for over twelve months now without any problem as i start the day with spriva one dose and three doses of 320/9 micros of symicort my breathing as eased a lot and a major plus unlike othere inhalers its steriod free
Q: Asthmatics- Have you recently been given a new type inhaler called Symbicort?
How are you getting on with it.
I hate mine it tastes horrible and I have to rinse my mouth every time I use it and it still makes my tongue sore.
Do you think my doc will let me go back to my old brown clenil inhaler?
A: yeah i got symbicort have had no probs with it. its much better than clenil try and stick with it or else you could try seretide this was great for me for ages
Q: I have been taking symbicort for about a week and latly i have felt like i have been sufficating.?
I have been to the doctors and they say i am breathing fine. I have no troubel breathing but i feel like imsufficating. They did say i have GERD and my question is, Can GERD(acid reflex issues) effect and cause asthma related symtoms?
A: yes, maybe your new inhaler is causing the GERD?
i had an allergiuc reation to and inhaler once and it made my mouth swell up, maybe its that?
next time you take it se if it makes the feeling worse, if it does then it will be an allergic reaction n u will need to go to the docors and ask them to change it
good luck x x
Q: Anyone use Symbicort? What were your experiences with it?
Was just taken off of Advair and put on Symbicort because I've been having a lot of trouble with my asthma lately. Just wanted to know if anyone has used it before. Was it effective?
A: I have used it for almost 4 years now and find it very good, some find it works right away but for me it was over a month, so if at first it don't help keep it going.
It is by far the best treatment I have used.
Q: Why do long acting beta2 agonists (found in Advair, Symbicort) increase the risk of Asthma related death?
Why do these long acting bronchodialators increase the risks of asthma death? I understand that a problem is broncho-dialation is increased, remaining inflamation may be left untreated, thus the need to combine these medicines with inhaled corticosteriods. But does anyone know WHY else there might be a connection between LABA's and Asthmatic severity?
A: Because some people treat them as resue inhalers when they are NOT. They have a much longer onset campared to resue inhalers like Albuterol and Levalbuterol and some people not knowing this take them for acute attacks and it does not help immediatly increasing the risk of death. If you have a severe acute attack you do need steroids too, but in the ER they usually give them IV with drugs such as salumedrol, decadron, or celestone as well as inhaled steroids.
This is why people must take Advair and Symbicort as directed. They are preventitive meds and are supposed to be taken Twice a day no matter what. Even if you are feeling fine.
The LABA may also take up the beta receptor sites in the lungs if taken before a short acting agonist there may be less sites to bind to rendering it less effective.
Q: Does anyone know the name of the woman who does the Symbicort TV commercial?
A: ughhhh, you got me on that one buddy !!!
