Q: Cymbalta??
Has anyone had success with the body aches/pain part of cymbalta? Has it relieved your anxiety and depression? How would you rate it on a scale from 1 to 10 of other anti-depressants you've tried? I just got put on it because of my body pain along with social anxiety disorder and i was starting to get depressed. Just want to gather some information!! Especially about the PAIN/ACHES part... I really want to know if that helped you!!! Thank you!!!! only people that have taken the medication...yes i have talked to my doctor.

A: I just got put on cymbalta last week for depression. Even with taking as short as I have, I've noticed a change. I feel a little more lively and not as achy as I have been. So far I think I'd rate it at an 8, but that's only after 1 week. I think that it will get better the more I take it.

Q: .....cymbalta???....?
i just started on cymbalta about a week ago. and i'm starting at 30mg, and im feeling better than ever, now my question is..why doesn't the doctor keep me at 30mg?? in 1 day i start 60mg..why is that? i know the dose is different but what else is the difference? will it effect me differently?..Thanks alot... :)

A: I am also on Cymbalta. The difference in the 30 and 60 is how long they last. He is putting you on the 60 instead of 2 of the 30's. Be sure you don't miss a dose while on this medication. I recently ran out and had withdrawal symptoms that were not pleasant, sweats, blurred vision, rapid heartbeat, dizziness

Q: How many Cymbalta tablets would it take to kill yourself?
I live with a friend that threatens suicide and takes Cymbalta. I want to hide most of them. And just put some back as she uses them. Her Doctor knows of this and put her on this to help her. The pills didn't cause it, she already was this way. Thinking she is losing her boyfriend is setting her back badly.

A: Drug companies, pharmacies and doctors prescribe only a certain amount of SSRI's at a time for a reason. If she took her month's supply she probably wouldn't die (although there's always a chance) she would have the worst anxiety attack she's ever known though. It could do permanant damage to her kidneys and liver too. So she would probably live, but just be really sick physically after trying to OD on them. If anyone threatens suicide, call the local crisis center in the area you live and let them know. Take it from there. Keep in mind that those who threaten to do it, don't want to...they want either the attention it brings on or for someone to help them solve their problems instantly (which is usually an impossiblity). Those who DO truly want to die, won't say anything because they don't want anyone to stop them. Be a good shoulder to cry on and don't worry about her threats. I would lay money on it being simply a negative attention seeking behavior.

Q: How long does Cymbalta stay in the body?
How long does Cymbalta take to leave your body? I have a physical for a government job and am afraid taking Cymbalta will look poorly on me.

A: Cymbalta can last in ur system for a couple of months. I wouldnt worry about it showing for ur exam because it isnt a bad drug. If they are seriously not going to hire you because you take cymbalta than the job isnt worth it. What about people with high cholesterol or blood pressure who take medication for that? My point is that we all have our problems that need a little boosting from medicvations. If cymbalta is working for you than stay on it.

Q: What is the average dose of cymbalta for depression?
What is the average dose of cymbalta a day for depression? My doctor just prescribed me 120mg a day. Is this high dosage or a low one?

A: Learn about cymbalta http://www.cymbalta.com/depression/about.jsp?ccd=mdddtc87&WT.srch=1 • Some patients may benefit from starting at 30 mg once daily. • There is no evidence that doses greater than 60 mg/day confers additional benefit, while adverse reactions such as dizziness, fatigue, somnolence, constipation, and decreased appetite were observed to be dose-dependent. • Discontinuing Cymbalta: A gradual dose reduction is recommended.

Q: What is the difference in taking Cymbalta at night or in the morning?
I take Cymbalta 60 mg in the morning. I see some people take it at night before bedtime. Can someone tell me what the differance would be?

A: I am on the same dose of Cymbalta 60mg. I take mine at night. Some people have insomnia. .And Cymbalta has a side effect of sleeplessness,so they recommend we take it in the morning. I DON'T SLEEP anyway so it's easier to take it at night with everything else. It works fine for me. The effect when I took it in the morning was a small burst of energy,it's supposed to help you lose weight too. Not a bad medication. The withdrawl sucks!!

Q: How long will the side effect of Cymbalta of blurred vision last?
I started taking it a few days ago for my fibromyalgia and I have noticed that my vision is a little blurred. That is the most common side effect of Cymbalta. How long does this usually last?

A: It only gets worse. Get off Cymbalta ASAP!!! This poison almost killed me after ONE dose.

Q: How bad is drinking when you are taking Cymbalta?
Im not really supposed to drink taking cymbalta (antidepressant) but i have a bit of a problem with binge drinking. I feel anxious in social situatons and i was depressed after a break up so i drank heaps the other night. How bad is this? Advice?

A: Stop drinking alcohol immediately! There are effects on the liver when taking Cymbalta. In testing, some patients developed "elevations of transaminases and bilirubin, but also had elevation of alkaline phosphatase, suggesting an obstructive process; in these patients, there was evidence of heavy alcohol use and this may have contributed to the abnormalities seen....Because it is possible that duloxetine and alcohol may interact to cause liver injury, Cymbalta should ordinarily not be prescribed to patients with substantial alcohol use." Physicians' Desk Reference 2005. You could be doing permanent damage to your liver, and the obstructive process may interfere with your absorption of food and medicine. Binge drinking is the worst. It damages your liver anyway, and the Cymbalta causes enzyme changes that make the damage worse. Please tell your doctor. Don't wait for him to guess. There could be a lot of damage done by then. There are other medications he can put you on that are safer under these circumstances. Don't wait 'til you feel all dragged out, depressed, weak, and have upper right quadrant pain and swelling to tell him. You cannot manage this yourself. I'm sure he would rather give you a strong tranquilizer right now than have you binge drinking. You cannot live without your liver. It is as important as your heart. It sounds like you also may have social anxiety. Talk with him about possible solutions for that, as well. Please take this seriously, and talk to your doctor.

Q: How long does it take for the side effects of Cymbalta to stop?
I was on Cymbalta 60mg for about 6 months and decided to stop due to price, the absence of any real benefits and cumbersome side effects (like having the sex drive of an 80 year old). Anyways, I phased myself off it for a week or two and It's been about 3 weeks since I stopped taking it. Most of the side effects are gone, but I still get these headrushes sometimes. Any ideas on how much longer this should take?

A: a week or 2

Q: How long does it take for me to benefit from Cymbalta?
I suffer from major depression and anxiety, and I've been prescribed Cymbalta. I've been taking it for about a week, and I am wanting to know when I can expect to see a change. Also, I have had a problem with alcohol in the past. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

A: i am an alcoholic (sober almost 4 months) who also takes cymbalta. it's amazing how you don't realize the effects of the alcohol on the medicine. once you quit drinking you will see a huge difference in the meds...they'll actually work. but be careful - you'll start to feel good and then think you can drink again...YOU CAN'T. it took a month in rehab for me to realize that. good luck.

Q: What is your experience taking cymbalta?
I stay in the middle not happy not sad.. Doctor perscribed Cymbalta and now I am afraid to take it. I have never taken an anti depressant and am reluctant tp try it.

A: I have been on it for 2 months and love it!!! My father passed away 3 weeks ago and I can't tell you how much it has helped me. I like you do not suffer from major depression but this stuff has really helped with the blahs!!! It takes about 7 days to feel the effects but I would highly recommened it.

Q: Could anyone give me any advice for additional supplements for stopping cymbalta?
Or any other antidepressant? It is cymbalta I take though. Been on the low dose a while this is my first day off it and I feel a pretty crappy. Such as vitamins, any over the counter medicine or herbal remedies or teas? And PLEASE, no recommendation of smoking weed or sniffing coke or anything! Many thanks, I shall rate the best answer 5!

A: Take Omega 3 fish oil, high doses. Start low and increase every three days untilyou get a positive change. This helps with depression. You can supplement according to what "crappy means". It would help to know that that is. I know that the fish oil is needed as the drug depletes the body of essential fatty acids. There is a program that has different supplements. You can find them at www.theroadback.org. It works for some people.

Q: How do I go about getting my insurance company to cover Cymbalta?
My doctor appealed and they denied it. I have to try Effexor for 6 weeks, then re-appeal. I have been on the Effexor for 2 weeks, and I definitely do not feel as well on it. The Cymbalta worked wonderfully -- I felt like a new person. So how can I reappeal and win this time? I am ready to change insurance companies just to get it, if I have to, althought that is kind of a stretch.

A: Unfortunately these days because of the high cost of drugs most insurance companies won't cover the expensive ones if there is a generic or less costly one. I don't know if there is a way around this. You'll probably have to wait the 6 weeks and have the doctor tell them that Cymbalta is the only one that works for you. Good luck. Aaaah....the power of the insurance companies....

Q: Should i try to adjust dose or just try to start to weane off cymbalta?
i have been on cymbalta 60 mg for about 6 months now and been suffering from bad anxiety for longer. however i have been on adderall xr for my adhd which makes me feel better, and inderal la for anxiety as well which helps. i also take an occasional klnopin if it gets bad. anyways...i am feeling better in general however not due to the cymbalta...and i dont want to be on it if it is not helping. I am getting alot of benefit from the other meds...but am scared to try to come off cymbalta...becuase i do not want withdrawals! would it be worth trying to up the dose of cymbalta before coming off of it??? any comments would be appreciated!

A: first I hope that your doctor has advised you to stop the med if he has then he would have told you how to go about doing it. Don't be to stared of it all as the withdrawals what ever ones you may get should pass in time. weaning off is normally the best idea and always consult a doctor before stopping a medication. take care good luck

Q: How does cymbalta work? Does anyone take the treatment cymbalta?
So I would like to know if anyone has heard of cymbalta. I have read its information from the website but, I'm still not sure if I should tell my doctor about it to try it and I would like to try it because I have a problem thats phobia and I might give it a try and use cymbalta. But has anyone tried this medication? and tell me the experience.

A: Karina. Please don't take that stuff. It does terrible things to your mind and body. Think of alternative means other than drugs to solve your emotional problems. Good luck!
