Q: Zoloft....?
I've been on Zoloft for years, and a couple years ago tried some diet pills. My the Zoloft counteracted with it and it made me depressed again. Does anyone know of any diet pills that wont effect my anti depressant?
A: You really need to talk to your Dr about that. There are so many interactions with different meds especially antidepressants. Also you could call your pharmacy and ask your pharmacist just to be sure you get correct info
Q: How soon did Zoloft start working for you?
I have been on 50mg of Zoloft for 15 days now and I feel nothing, is this normal? Should I keep waiting or switch to something else. I still feel depressed and get anxiety really easily.
A: while some people can start feeling an effect at 2 weeks, most people don't see results for about 4 weeks, with full effectiveness not until 6-8 weeks. keep waiting. you may need a higher dose, but give this one a couple more weeks!
Q: How do you gain weight while on Zoloft or other antidepressants?
I have recently been prescribed Zoloft for anxiety and depression. I have heard that it makes you gain weight. Im curious as to how. Is it because you have an increased appetite and eat more? Or is it because that's just how the drug works?
A: It has it's downs, I weighed a healthy 200 pounds when I started 3 months ago and have since gained 75 pounds. I am very fat now, and I am considering stopping. I had some celebration donuts once the pills started working and I guess I kept compulsively eating them. I developed OCDC (Obsessive Compulsive Donut Consumption). Doctors and scientists believe this is the same disorder most cops and Homer Simpson have. Zoloft can agitate this. Hope this helps
Q: How long does 50mg zoloft take to cause so called "brain damage"?
I've been researching a bit and I have seen some places that medications like zoloft(sertraline) cause permanent brain damage. I am 18 years old and male.
A: You need to do more research, so far your research has been faulty.
Q: How to stay positive when coming off Zoloft?
I've been having bouts of depression while coming off of Zoloft. Any tips for how to remain as positive as I was while taking Zoloft?
A: Adopt a box of puppies and kittens.
Q: Is my husband being on Zoloft good enough reason to win a custody battle?
he left then started zoloft 3 weeks later..hes also slandered the courts and admitted hes crazy on face book...should I be worried at all that I will loose in court for full custody?
how about living in a hotel room? think the courts will like that...admitting hes crazy on facebook?
A: You can ask the judge for a complete evaluation on the other parent in court, through application for a court hearing on his mental health issue regarding custody
Q: How do I withdraw from Zoloft without too many side-effects?
I'm 16 years old and I've been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for Panic Disorder for four months. Since the side effects have begun to wear on me and I feel that I can manage my anxiety on my own, I want to begin tapering off of it. My doctor prescribed 25 mg and said we can go from there. However, I know that if I get bad withdrawal symptoms I'll freak out. Any advice for withdrawing with the least amount of problems?
A: Follow your doctor's advice and try to taper down the way they have told you to. Don't try to go cold turkey because it could cause you to have a lot of side effects and cause even more anxiety.
Q: How long are withdrawal symptoms from zoloft?
I have been on zoloft 100 mg for about 10 years and I need to come off it. I know that just missing one day can really mess up my head and make me physically feel strange for lack of a better word. Has anyone else been on it this long and come off of it successfully? Do you know how long the withdrawal symptoms last? Most doctors say there are no withdrawal symptoms but we all know that is untrue.....Thanks!
A: In general, proper supervision is key when withdrawing from anti-depressants (or any drug for that matter). You cannot go from taking 100mg of zoloft to 0mg of zoloft in a 24 hour period.
You should really discuss this with your doctor/psychiatrist to find a withdrawl plan that is safe and effective. Maybe you can incorporate natural food remedies to elevate serotonin levels while you are weaning away from zoloft. Overall, talk to a professional and good luck! :)
Q: How long does it take for zoloft to leave your system after you stop taking it?
I take zoloft for anxiety and I've been unable to take my last three doses, which is one and a half days worth. I take 100mg a day, half in morning and half at night. Is it possible that a significant amount of the drug has left my system already?
A: Not necessarily. I take Zoloft, have for years. I made the mistake of immediately stopping it cold turkey - don't do it! I got the worst dizzy spells, I was nauseuos and just not right. You have to ween yourself off of Zoloft.. so what you do is 1 day give yourself 50mg, the next day give yourself 25mg, and little by little, see how you feel each day until you feel normal. I'd guess you're going to have these side effects in the next couple of days if you do not take your meds. Good luck!
Q: Could Zoloft withdrawal cause an accelerated heart rate or heart palpitations?
Thanks for your help. It may be that now that I have tapered off Zoloft, I am more sensitive to my caffeine intake. Has anyone else ever experienced this?
A: I had some weird spells kind of like that when I went off my Zoloft (I went cold turkey). I don't know for sure that's what's causing you to experience this, but I think it's definitely possible. You may want to call your doctor to see if s/he wants to see you though.
Q: Whats the difference between zoloft and prozac?
After taking 1.5 years of Zoloft, which suits me well, i am concerned about the change to Prozac. Is it safe? I am getting married in next 3 months. How does this effect my health? i went to my doctor cause I felt that my anxiety and depression was coming back. So is Prozac stronger than Zoloft? Does it react badly with alcohol?
A: Both are anti-depressants with a different chemical profile. The strength depends on the prescription. How it works for you depends on your body chemistry. After 1.5 years of any anti-depressant, it will lose some effectiveness. Anti-depressants are not meant to be taken long-term, but should be combined with cognitive behavioral therapy to reduce the depression. All anti-depressants react badly with alcohol.
Q: My friend is on Zoloft and dropped out of college to live at home. What could her problem be?
She is apparently on Zoloft and dropped out of college to live at home, write, and draw.
Why would someone go on Zoloft in the first place? What could be wrong with my friend?
A: Zoloft is prescribed for depression. Your friend may very well be clinically depressed and not able to handle being in school right now. Some people suffer such serious depression that they can not hold down a job. Just be there for her and try to be sympathetic.
Q: How long do the effects of 50mg zoloft last for?
I recently started taking 50mg of zoloft. How long do its effects last for?
A: About a day.
Q: How long does it take Zoloft to leave your system after you stop taking it.?
I take Zoloft for anxiety, 100mg a day, half in the morning, half at night. I have not taken my last three dosages, which is one and a half days worth. Is it possible that a significant amount of the Zoloft has left my system already? How long would it take for the drug to be fully back in my system once i've been taking it regularly after the day and a half of not taking it?
A: Due to it's half life profile, I'd estimate about 7 or 8 days.
