Remembering Helene...

Helene Harris 1937-1985

A vibrant, beautiful, clever and sophisticated woman who enjoyed life to the full. A wonderful wife, mother and home-maker.

Helene Harris, who was raised in a loving family in North London, was blessed with all these qualities and more.

The welfare of her husband and two children was paramount. She adored her family. If any problems arose, she tackled them with a smile and good humour. “Laugh and the world laughs with you” could have been Helene’s motto. If proof were needed, examine the family photograph albums to see her beaming from every page.

She loved to entertain her wide circle of friends and was the perfect hostess. The home was the centre of her universe. She looked forward to a game of Scrabble or a dinner party for a dozen guests with equal enthusiasm.

Helene was a wise and loyal friend who was always available to give sound advice and support when asked. She was a special woman who was loved by all who knew her.

Who had heard of ovarian cancer in 1985? Certainly not Helene. When the illness was diagnosed it was some time before her close friends realised it was life threatening. They took their cue from Helene who fought bravely and with dignity to maintain her usual routine and high standards.

We still weep for our beloved Helene who was taken from us in the prime of life.
