At the request of the International Gynaecologic Cancer Society, HHMT recently
coordinated its first ever patient forum, which took place at the start of
this prestigious research meeting, in Edinburgh, at the beginning of October
2004.
Around 90 people attended the half day event, mainly women from Scotland
with ovarian cancer, but also some of their family members and carers. They
were able to
- hear of other patient’s experiences
- find out about the impact of the ICON trials
- learn about ‘the new horizons’ in ovarian cancer treatment
and understanding
- and participate in a range of workshops which included sessions
on nutrition, complementary therapies, finance, sexuality and communicating
The content was developed in conjunction with CancerBACUP Scotland,
Gynae Oncology Specialist Nurses ,
Ovacome.
